Timelines to Plan an Architectural Design Project

How long the planning takes depends on many factors, including:
  • - your project size & complexity
  • - how ready you are
  • - the number of design options to evaluate
  • - how quickly you make decisions
  • - how much you want to pre-plan
  • - he extent of construction drawing detail
  • - workloads (myself, surveyor, engineer, ...)
  • - requirements of authorities

Rough / general guidelines are shown below, for someone whom:

  • - has never done this sort of thing before,
  • - there are a few viable design possibilities,
  • - wants to pre-plan a lot of their project ahead of time (before construction), and
  • - wants to go thru the process at a comfortable pace
